Tom DeLonge is always working on several projects at the same time. When he’s not recording or touring with Blink-182, or running his apparel/shoe company Macbeth, he’s pushing his creativity with his multi-platform band/art experiment Angels & Airwaves (AVA).

The Dream Walker

The upcoming AVA album, titled The Dream Walker, is just one of the elements of a massive project that DeLonge has been working on for years. This album will serve as the soundtrack to an animated short film titled Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker being released in November.

The description accompanying the film’s trailer states: “The Dream World is an alternate universe created by humankind’s shared unconscious thoughts. When Poet Anderson journeys deep into this world, he meets his own Dream Walker, a mysterious guardian angel who leads Poet to confront his demons and his destiny.”

DeLonge recently explained the origin of his Poet Anderson project to Alternative Press:

Dreams came into my mind when I saw a documentary about nightmares. Nightmares are basically tools to help prepare you for real world events. I’m also a stargazer. I would sit and think about how if there’s no linear way to travel to these really distant places, who’s to say when you dream, you’re not there? I worked on two different screenplays, one more sort of coming-of-age and one more science fiction, both about playing with frequencies and traveling to places through consciousness. This rich story developed for what became [The Dream Walker protagonist], Poet Anderson.

The Poet Anderson franchise is just getting started too. DeLonge says comic books, a big budget live-action movie, and more are already in development.

Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker premieres at the Toronto International Short Film Festival in mid-November and will be released online on December 9.
