On Tuesday, September 27, SpaceX Founder, CEO, and Lead Designer Elon Musk spoke at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Guadalajara, Mexico about his plan to colonize Mars.

Musk has spoken for years about his desire to send humans to Mars. In a 2012 interview on ABC’s Nightline, he spoke about the importance of making the move to Mars affordable in order for colonization to be successful. He reiterated this point in his recent presentation, and he also unveiled some of the technology currently being developed by SpaceX to achieve the goal of “making humans a multiplanetary species.”
