We’ve heard a few updates from the upcoming second season of CW’s The Flash, but yesterday we saw our first look at the Scarlet Speedster’s new outfit. The released image features a glimpse of Grant Gustin in his new costume, which features a white logo that helps bring the costume more in line with both the comic outfit, and the future version of the Flash we saw throughout the first season. Below is the image, alongside the first look at the season one costume reveal for comparison.

The Flash Costumes

It’s fair to say this first image from season two blows season one out of the water, but that could be our own excitement bubbling up as we learn more about what’s coming from The Flash. Following the explosive finale we are excited to hear that Jay Garrick will indeed be appearing, played by Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex). Garrick was the Golden Age Flash (meaning he was the original) whose presence was teased last season when his iconic winged helmet popped out of the wormhole.

Garrick’s Flash exists alongside the Justice Society on Earth 2, which means we will presumably be exploring DC’s Multiverse in some way. We can only hope this means we will discover more of Cisco Ramon’s recently teased powers as he continues his path to becoming the hero Vibe, seeing as he is currently the best possible source for any dimensional crossing.

Patty Spivot in The Flash Season TwoSears will be joined by Shantel VanSanten (The Messengers), who will be playing new love interest Patty Spivot. Spivot will join the show as Joe West’s new partner, following Eddie’s sacrifice in season one. She has been Barry’s main squeeze for most of the rebooted New 52 series, so expect the character to stick around for a while.

We can also expect no shortage of heroes showing up this season, with three upcoming DC shows on the CW to move the characters around on. The first on The Flash has been announced, with Adam Copeland (WWE’s Edge) set to bring Atom-Smasher to the small screen for the first time. It’s important to note that he is listed as a villain for the Flash, but don’t expect that to last. Atom-Smasher was on the Justice Society with Garrick’s Flash, so we may see something develop between these characters over the season. He won’t be the only new speedster on the show, as Wally West / Kid Flash will be showing up in the second season, though not much news has dropped yet on how he will be worked into the story..

Michael Ironside has also joined the cast as Lewis Snart, Leonard/Captain Cold and Lisa/Golden Glider’s father, and will further develop some of the best characters of the first season. This of course only helps to further prepare Cold and Co. for their part on Legends of Tomorrow, which will air during the midseason on the CW.

Speaking of villains, we can expect the next big casting announcement will be for bib bad Hunter Zolomon AKA Professor Zoom. While visually Zoom may look similar to Reverse-Flash, his powers and origin are fairly unique. Zoom isn’t your typical speedster, and doesn’t draw power from the Speed Force like Barry or Eobard Thawne. He is able to alter the rate he moves through time, making himself quicker by slowing down the time of others or speeding it up for himself. This unique powerset technically makes him faster than the Flash, and his mental instability makes him potentially more dangerous than Reverse-Flash.

There’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season of The Flash, and with this first look at the new costume and some of the great casting announcements, we can’t wait to see more. What are your thoughts on the new costume? let us know in the comments section below!
