New York Super Week and New York Comic Con (NYCC) have partnered with Brooklyn Brewery to create the official beer for these geek-centric events.

Brooklyn Brewery and comic book artist Khary Randolph collaborated to create the Brooklyn Defender–a beer and a comic book character of the same name.

The Brooklyn Defender–the beer–is “an explosive West Coast-style IPA with a reddish twist thanks to a dash of roasted malt. Bold, fruity hop bitterness and an intensely resinous nose smash into a sudden dry finish that will refresh and entice you.”

The Brooklyn Defender character is a superhero “embodying the Brooklyn attitude” who “goes out to defend civilians against tasteless beer.”

Brooklyn Defender

This won’t be the first year that Defender IPA has been a part of NYCC. But it will be the first year that it will be available to a wider audience. In addition to its presence at select bars around the city during NYCC, Brooklyn Defender will be available in bottles and draft across the country beginning in 2016.

The 2015 New York Comic Con takes place October 8-11.
