Official title and first plot details of ‘Prometheus’ sequel emerge

In late October, Neill Blomkamp announced that his Alien 5 project was on hold indefinitely to make way for Ridley Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus. While many were disappointed by the news, it’s most likely in an effort to answer lingering questions and to properly close the gap with the original Alien franchise.

On Monday morning, 20th Century Fox announced that the Prometheus sequel, formally referred to as Alien: Paradise Lost, would officially be titled Alien: Covenant.

Official Synopsis:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

These details have led the internet to question the whereabouts of Elizabeth Shaw, the only human survivor of the original Prometheus mission. Whether she will appear in the movie is yet to be determined, but hopefully her fate will at least, be covered.

Alien: Covenant will hit theaters October 6, 2017.
